POLICE arrested more than 30 people after targeting problem streets at the weekend.
Cleveland officers staged Operation Hawk in response to a high rate of offending in parts of Middlesbrough during October, each year. They stopped more than 400 people and recovered "a substantial haul" of alcohol.
Those they arrested were questioned about offences including burglary, drunkenness, and the possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Inspector Gary Gamesby, head of Middlesbrough police's operational support unit, said: "Arrests and other indicators do show our activity, but my main wish is to provide strong reassurance to the people of Middlesbrough that we are out challenging anti-social behaviour in a bid to make our streets safe."
