DURHAM City striker Micky Taylor was the hero as he turned certain defeat into victory against Mossley in the second round of the FA Carlsberg Vase on Saturday.
City were trailing 2-0 with just ten minutes left, until substitute Micky Taylor prompted an amazing turnaround to give them a place in the last 64 of the competition.
"I really thought we were going out," said manager Brian Honour. "I had almost conceded defeat, because we'd given ourselves an uphill task by giving away two goals.
"We certainly weren't at our best until Micky came on. It was fairytale stuff."
Durham were 2-0 down after just twenty minutes and it could have been much worse if the woodwork hadn't come to their rescue. But then up stepped Taylor to pull the game out of the fire.
He scored his first from a right wing cross by Robbie Brightwell, and then equalised from the rebound after the Mossley keeper failed to hold a Lee Ludlow shot.
Durham were the better side in extra-time, and Taylor got the winner from a corner, although Richard Ord had to clear off the line late in the game.
Tow Law striker Brian Wake was the hero of his side's 5-0 win over Congleton, scoring four of the goals. Congleton had Carl Middleton sent off early in the game, and Tow Law took full advantage.
Lee Innes, playing his last game before his move to New Zealand, headed them in front from a Marc Eccles corner after four minutes, then Wake scored the goal of the game, beating four men before shooting past the keeper.
It was 3-0 before the break when he dispossessed the Congleton full-back before firing home, then Marc Eccles twice crossed for Wake to score in the second half.
Consett midfielder Andrew Thompson also scored four against Peterlee in a game of three penalties, two sendings off and seven goals.
He opened the scoring after two minutes when Peterlee keeper Steve Tierney failed to hold a Colin McLeod shot, and he scored from the rebound. Peterlee then had Gavin Naylor sent off for swearing before equalising from a penalty by Lee Crosby.
Consett bounced back with a second goal from Thompson from a Gareth McKenna cross, but Peterlee levelled again with a second penalty from Crosby after a foul by James Platten, the Consett keeper.
Thompson completed his hattrick from a Neil Lowdon cross, but then they had Ian Davison dismissed for disputing a third penalty, which James Platten saved from Crosby again.
Thompson fired the fourth from 20 yards, before Peterlee gave themselves late hope with a goal from a free kick by Anthony Jewson.
West Auckland striker Roy Allen scored three for his side in one of their best wins of the season - 3-1 at Harrogate RA.
West had a poor first-half and trailed to a goal from Steve Hadden, but picked themselves up after the break.
Allen poked in the equaliser in a goalmouth scramble just two minutes after half-time, and they took control in extra-time.
Jonathan Milroy broke down the right and crossed for Allen to score with a diving header, then Allen pounced on a poor back pass for the third.
Billingham Town came from behind to beat Curzon Ashton 2-1 at Bedford Terrace.
Their Mancunian visitors took the lead when John Worsley scored from a near post corner, but Town levelled when Neil Bishop played a 1-2 with Paul Rowntree and scored from the edge of the box.
After Paul Rowntree missed two chances, they looked as if they were heading for extra-time until James Chapman scored from a Steve Osborne free kick.
Bedlington needed extra time to defeat Eccleshill 2-1 in a physical game in Bradford. Bedlington finished with only ten men on the field because of injuries. Eccleshill led at one point and then missed a penalty, but Bedlington stormed back.
After Tony Chapman hit the bar, they levelled after 75 minutes through John Milner, and early in extra-time Dean Gibb headed in a Chapman cross.
Billingham Synthonia won 3-0 at Squires Gate. Lee Flannigan scored two of the goals, with Tony Wood getting the other.

However, Guisborough levelled from a Clarke penalty after a foul.
Three clubs went out of the competition. Thornaby lost 4-1 at home to Prescot Cables, who led 4-0 at one point before Chris Reeve scored late in the game.
