A GIPSY community came together for the second time this year to mourn the death of another family member.

Devoted young mum-of-two Rose Ann Price, 20, was killed in a car accident last week.

She was on her way to Ferryhill, County Durham, from her home in Doncaster for a bonfire night family get-together to celebrate the first birthday of daughter Olivia.

Also in the car were husband Craig, 23, and their other daughter Courtenay, two, who were not seriously hurt.

It is the second tragedy the family have had to face this year after the death of Craig's 16-year-old brother Levi George Price, who was found hanged in the garden of his Ferryhill home in March.

Hundreds of mourners from around the country, many of them members of Rose Ann's extended gypsy family, attended the funeral at All Saints Church in Ferryhill today.

During a moving service, Father Brian Murphy said: "Her death has caused a tremendous amount of sadness to the wider community of Ferryhill as well as to her immediate family.

"Ann brought a lot of joy and love and happiness to her family and friends and to say that she will be sorely missed is a massive understatement.

"Our hearts go out to Craig, his parents and brothers and sisters, for this is the second time a tragic death has occurred in the family in the space of ten months. And our hearts go out to Ann's parents and family."

After the funeral service, the cortege moved off through the streets of Ferryhill for a private burial near Metal Bridge.

Mother-in-law Karen Price thanked everybody for their support during a difficult time and paid tribute to her daughter-in-law.

She said: "She was totally devoted to her children. They were her life, along with Craig.

"She was a good wife and mother, a real home-maker and this is just such a tragedy."

She added: "It was hard for us when we lost our son, but it's really hard to see what Craig's going through now."

The Northern Echo attended the funeral at the invitation of the family.
