THE swimming pool at Loftus Leisure Centre has been temporarily closed to allow for repairs.
The pool was closed at lunch- time yesterday and is not expected to re-open until the New Year. The centre's dry areas - including gym, squash, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and aerobics - will remain open.
The work to replace filters was identified during a condition survey by Redcar and Cleve- land Borough Council and Tees Valley Leisure Ltd, which looks after sports centres in east Cleveland.
All school swimming sessions will be offered at alternative facilities at Guisborough swimming pool.
It is hoped that swimming groups and the public will take advantage of the Saltburn or Guisborough pools.
Paddy Corcoran, managing director of Tees Valley Leisure, said: "We must apologise to all our swimmers at Loftus Leisure Centre, but the work needs to be carried out as soon as possible."
