THE daughter of a pensioner found dead after a blaze in his home appeared in court today charged with his murder.
The badly beaten body of 77-year-old Bill Pyle of Stanley Street, Close House, Eldon Lane, was recovered by fire fighters when they were called to a fire at his home, on the evening of Sunday, November 4.
His daughter Ann-Marie Pyle fled the blaze and was treated for burns and other injuries at Newcastle Royal Infirmary.
The 41-year-old, from Brooke Street, Coundon Grange, County Durham appeared at Sedgefield Magistrates Court, in Newton Aycliffe, this morning to answer charges of murder and arson.
She was remanded in custody and spoke only to confirm her name, age and address. The case was adjourned until Monday, November 19, when she will appear before Newcastle Crown Court.
