HUNDREDS of residents had the chance to read, surf and learn as part of celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of Gateshead Central Library.
The library, in Prince Consort Road, was opened in 1926, and as part of the anniversary celebrations, Gateshead Borough Council decided to open on Sunday.
There was also the chance to take part in other activities at the library during the day. These included visits by local authors, storytelling, Internet quizzes, calligraphy workshops and silk painting.
