Darlington Building Society has announced a three-year sponsorship of the arts in the town.
Darlington Arts Centre and the Civic Theatre can expect to benefit from about £75,000 of sponsorship, including anticipated Government match-funding.
The society has a proud record of promoting local arts, having sponsored three autumn seasons at Darlington Civic Theatre, as well as Proms in the Park, at Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough, for three consecutive years. Numerous smaller projects have also received support.
The sponsorship of the Arts Centre and Civic Theatre will guarantee the success of the arts projects linked to the Firthmoor regeneration programme, together with several other Darlington-wide projects.
These include visual arts, poetry, street and contemporary arts. The main thrust of the support will, however, be focused on the Civic Theatre, one of the country's most successful regional theatres.
As part of this support, the society has designed and produced ticket wallets, which it is hoped will be welcomed by both theatre-goers and ticket office staff as an enhancement to the overall theatre experience.
