A PENSIONER who believes having a computer provides a window on the world, has just won a new outlook on life.
The 82-year-old has been presented with a new £1,000 computer with internet access, through BT's community connections scheme, for her therapy centre.
Mrs Edna Dinsdale's plea for a computer for the North Skelton Day Centre hit home with organisers of the national award scheme.
She wrote to BT: "At our day centre we are a group of people of varying mental and physical abilities, but with a common aim - a desire to live life as fully as possible. A computer would be our window on the world.
"Educationally, the benefit would be great, stimulating one's brain and physically increasing dexterity in our hands. Culturally, the world would be our oyster.
"The mute or stroke victim could send a loving message to the carer or keep in contact with family who are thousands of miles away."
Anne Cummings, who manages the Redcar and Cleveland Council-run centre, said: "We're absolutely delighted. Edna's always good with words."
