FULHAM midfielder Lee Clark will be looking to help continue Newcastle's miserable record in the capital when he takes on his former club on Saturday.

The Magpies travel to London tomorrow hoping to end a disastrous run which has seen them fail to win in the capital on their last 26 visits - the last being a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace in November 1997.

Clark, who still remains a huge Magpies fan, admits that, come 3'o'clock tomorrow afternoon, he'll be doing all he can to ensure the Geordies' amazing run is extended to 27.

He said: ''This is the fifth season since I left, and I've never played against them. I'm a Newcastle fan and I still go and watch them. I support them even though I've moved.

''Football is the be-all and end-all to the people in Newcastle. The result at the weekend determines the mood they go to work in on Monday, because everything is based on football matches.

''It's a dream to play for the club you support. I'd been with Newcastle since I was 10 but I wasn't playing as regularly as I wanted to, and it was time to move on.

''Now I want to beat them and prove to their supporters that I'm still a good player. There's no way I've got divided loyalties. This is my first chance to come up against them, and I'm determined to win the game for Fulham.

''I saw them on the first day of the season at Chelsea when they played well but only got a draw. Then I went to see them play at West Ham, so I hope they play that poorly and lose again!''

''There was always the belief that trophies would happen,'' he added.

''Kevin Keegan left; Kenny Dalglish took over, and they qualified for the Champions League again.

''They got to cup finals and thought it looked like the first trophy for a long time was on the way. But they hit a bit of a dip, and it took Bobby Robson to come back and start it all again.

''Now they're confident and are playing well.''
