THINGS are looking up for young Jasmine Eke, who has become the star of a campaign to promote civil baby naming ceremonies.

Nine-month-old Jasmine, of Northallerton, is dwarfed by an eight-foot high photograph of herself in North Yorkshire County Council's striking advert for the new services.

The county has established itself as the country's most popular venue for the non-religious ceremonies, accounting for more than a quarter of national figures.

A choice of ceremony is offered to parents and can include readings, music and a contribution from grandparents.
