THE girlfriend of a teenager who died during a school lesson fought back tears yesterday as she spoke of her double tragedy.
Helen Barnie, 14, of Huntington, York, was just coming to terms with the death of her father a few weeks ago, when she was told that her boyfriend had died.
Jamie Bucknell, 14, collapsed during an English lesson at Huntington School, on Monday. His death was attributed to heart problems.
Helen, who had recently seen her father, John, die at 41 from a heart condition, said: "I just feel heartbroken. Jamie meant everything to me and I want everybody to know how much we loved each other and how much we meant to each other."
Her mother, Julie Barnie, said: "It seems so unfair that the two men she loved most have been taken away from her. It shouldn't be like that when she's just 14. It's tragic."
A funeral service for Jamie is set for next week.
