WILL Render, above, reckons he has got the opposition licked when it comes to the size of his tongue.
It sticks out some 10cm from the corner of his mouth and Will believes it is the longest in the world.
Shopkeeper Will, 37, contacted The Guinness Book of World Records after seeing German girl Annika Irmler claim top slot with her 7cm tongue.
Will, from Sunderland, said: "My tongue is legendary. I'm known as The Lizard by everyone around here. I measured my tongue and it was 3cm longer."
Guinness confirmed that 12-year-old Annika, from Hamburg, held the unofficial world record with her 7cm tongue.
A human tongue measures on average 5cm - but with Will's tongue measuring twice that, Guinness urged him to get in touch.
They told him to take a picture of his tongue being measured by a doctor and two witnesses and send it to stake his claim.
