SCHOOL skivers should take a lesson from Melanie McGregor - turning up for school does have its rewards.
It is five years since the 16-year-old missed a day of school and she has been rewarded with a trip to Sunderland Football Club's Stadium of Light and has received a certificate.
She was presented with the certificate at the stadium by Durham county councillor Alan Fenwick, who said: "For these students to go through their whole secondary school life without missing a single day is a magnificent achievement.
