GUISBOROUGH golfer Sheila Atherton is celebrating her biggest achievement in her 15 years in the sport after taking second place in the final of the national club champions competition at the Vale of Glamorgan.
Playing off a handicap of 13, she came through six qualifying rounds after winning the 2000 club championship at Saltburn Golf Club. And she continued her good form to finish second in the 18-hole strokeplay event at the home of the Welsh PGA.
About 300 people entered the competition and Sheila beat a host of opponents from all over the northern area to reach the final.
