A POPULAR exhibition offering contemporary crafts as Christmas gifts opens its doors today.
Christmas Present, at the Shipley Art Gallery, in Gateshead, is in its 11th year and this year features ceramics and jewellery by both highly-acclaimed national and young aspiring makers.
The work of more than 40 artists will be on display and on sale.
Helen Joseph, keeper of contemporary craft, said: "The exhibition promises a wonderful selection of ceramics, from small scale to large studio pieces.
"High quality is guaranteed from nationally-recognised potters and jewellers, showing a breadth of approach.
"This year, for the first time, work is selected from all over the UK. New jewellers and ceramicists will be on show.''
The exhibition is sponsored for the second year by local architectural firm Browne Smith Baker.
The exhibition opens today and runs until January 12. It is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and from 2pm to 5pm on Sundays. Admission is free.
The gallery will close from December 25 to 27 and from December 31 to January 2.
