Shildon blasted one of their highest ever scores in the Northern League reaching double figures against Washington Nissan on Saturday.
Shildon thrashed their visitors 11-5, to record their biggest league win since March 1934 when they put thirteen past Tow Law.
But manager Ray Gowan, who has signed midfielder David Bayles from Bishop Auckland, wasn't entirely satisfied with the scoreline. "I'm delighted that we scored eleven, but I'm unhappy that we conceded five. All of their goals came from our mistakes, which might let us down in other matches. I would rather have won 6-0.
"It was a really open game, and we could have scored more. There were loads of chances in the game, to both sides."
Nissan were still in with a chance at half time, as Shildon only led 5-3.
Shildon defender Glen Sweeney put the ball into his own net after Gavin Cogden's penalty hit the post, but Shildon replied with goals from David Taylor (2), Nigel Bolton and Charlie Walton. Nissan rallied with goals from Cogden and Glen Liddle, but Graham Ash made it 5-3 from a Brian Fairhurst cross just on half-time.
Shildon turned on the style at the start of the second half. Bolton took his personal tally to four by the 64th minute, with sub John Outhwaite adding another two. Fairhurst chipped in with the eleventh on the 70th minute, before Liddle and Jason Melling pulled goals back.
It wasn't the first time this season Nissan have been involved in a 16 goal thriller - they lost 9-7 to Billingham Synthonia in the Vase a month ago.
Shildon weren't the only team going on a scoring spree - Penrith scored nine without reply against Willington in the Second Division.
Meanwhile, Second Division Eppleton have been threatened with suspension from the league after failing to return any match report forms and team sheets to the league since September. The league plans to meet club officials on Wednesday night.

Tow Law are second after they beat Chester-le-Street 2-0, both goals coming in the first half.
Both sides had chances early in the game, before Tow Law took the lead after 28 minutes when Kraig Wilkinson scored from a Marc Eccles cross.

Dunston are fourth following their 3-0 away win at Thornaby.
They went ahead on 37 minutes when Andy Fletcher scored from a Nicky Scaife corner, but they didn't increase their lead until the 78th minute when Fletcher scored again.
Mason continued his impressive form since joining from Benfield Saints when he scored from ten yards. Thornaby missed a late penalty.
West Auckland had to be content with a 2-2 draw at Billingham Town, after being behind twice in the game. Prolific scorer Paul Rowntree put Billingham ahead from a Paul Baverstock cross, but West equalised with a shot from Jonathan Milroy.
Town went back into the lead on the hour when Rowntree scored from the spot after Ray Stanger handled, before Phil McGuire levelled just four minutes from the end.
Durham City, who have games in hand on the teams above them, moved into sixth with a 4-1 home win over Newcastle Blue Star.
Former Blue Star player Lee Ludlow headed Durham into the lead on the half hour, and he added a second four minutes later.
Star had Andy Cunningham dismissed for two bookable offences, but still pulled one back with a shot from Ross Greenhill, but Durham rallied in the closing stages. Irvine cut in from the left and scored with a right foot shot, and new signing Keith Douglas lobbed the keeper for the fourth
Washington's good start to life in the First Division continued when they won 1-0 at Peterlee and moved into seventh. Lee O'Donovan scored the all important goal just before half time.
Brandon and Billingham Synthonia drew 1-1, both goals coming in the last twenty minutes.
Lee Flannigan finished a good move to put Synners ahead, but Dave Robson quickly levelled.
