TEN-year-old design whiz-kid Lauren Sutcliffe has made her mark on a new scheme to boost learning for Sunderland youngsters.
Lauren, a pupil at Diamond Hall Junior School, beat off competition from 500 schoolchildren to design a logo promoting the new City of Sunderland Out of School Hours Learning Programme.
The scheme encourages young people from four to 18 to take part in a range of activities outside normal lessons to improve motivation, build self-esteem and raise achievement.
Lauren's winning Schoolz Out logo is being used on promotional material for the new programme, which is now running in all Sunderland schools.
Lauren won a computer system, which was presented to her by Professor Peter Fidler, vice-chancellor of the University of Sunderland
