ALUMINIUM cans are being recycled to provide winter shelters for ducklings.
The Weardale Animal Sanctuary, Stanhope, Wear-dale, is urging people to save aluminium drinks cans, or set up can collection points to help them raise enough money to provide orphaned ducklings with small wooden shelters to keep off the cold.
The centre has joined the Make Things Happen campaign run by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) - the more cans collected, the more cash and environmental points the sanctuary can accumulate.
Anyone able to set up an aluminium collection point for the centre should ring Sally Rowley, on (01388) 526375.
