Young drummers have been busy rehearsing for the annual Lantern Parade in Darlington.
The drummers, aged eight to 11, known as the Skerne Park Prime Time Drummers, will accompany 300 children in the Lantern Parade, starting from the Arts Centre at 6.30pm, and finishing in the Market Square.
They will then perform a finale before the fireworks display at 7.30pm
The group is one of seven regional music projects co-ordinated by the Gateshead Music Centre and funded by Music for Youth as part of the Co Musica project.
Skerne Park was identified as a music action zone, and since January, a professional drummer, Chris Maines, has been working at Skerne Park Primary School as part of the 18-month project.
The school has in-school and after-school drumming groups, is raising money for the after-school group to travel to Ireland in February, and hopes to play at the opening of Gateshead Music Centre.
The parade is organised by Darlington Borough Council and sponsored by The Northern Echo, Taylor Woodrow, Cleveland Bridge UK and Alpha Radio.
