A TEENAGER has fulfilled her lifetime ambition by joining the Army.
Since she was old enough to walk and talk, Darlington-born Michelle Nicholson knew she wanted to do the same job as her father.
After 21 weeks of intensive training, Michelle, 21, achieved her dream and is now a private with the Army's Adjutant General Corps, Staff and Personnel Support Branch.
Michelle took her inspiration from her father, who served for 24 years in the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Regiment.
She enlisted at the Armed Forces Careers Office in Northgate, Darlington, and she is now back to talk to young people about the training, travel and sporting opportunities on offer in the Army.
She said: "Growing up in the Army was fantastic. We travelled to different countries, made new friends and were part of a big fun family.
"My dad is my role model and it is great that he understands what my job involves.
"During my time with the Army I have learnt a great deal, and I have been overwhelmed by the comradeship that you develop with your unit. I'm looking forward to developing my career."
