ENTERPRISE grant support of £75,000 has helped Hydram Engineering to broaden its customer base, creating 11 jobs and securing 68 existing ones.
The DTI grant will help Hydram, of Ferryhill, County Durham, install high-tech equipment, including a laser cutter, allowing it to develop niche markets for its sheet metal components.
Hydram supplies a wide range of industries, including electronics, lighting, aviation, automotive, construction and architectural services.
Its products can be found in planes, trains, cookers, earth-movers and sun beds, as well as at Hong Kong Airport and in London's Millennium Eye.
John Young, Hydram's managing director, said: "Laser cutting offers a superior cut-edge quality, with no rough edges. The new machine doubles our thickness capability. while ensuring an excellent edge finish."
