THE UNSUNG work of people who have given their time to help voluntary groups and good causes will be recognised at a one-off event in Durham next month.
As the United Nations' International Year of Volunteers comes to a close, the efforts of many unheralded people will be marked at County Hall, Durham.
The Celebration of Volunteers, on Saturday, December 1, will highlight the benefits brought by the work of volunteers and local organisations.
Staged by the Durham Volunteer Bureau, an arm of the Durham Association of Youth and Community Organisations, the event is backed by a host of local charities, including Barnardo's, Childline, the Dyspraxia Foundation, Langley Park Community Transport, Norcare, and the WRVS.
Some of the groups involved will be demonstrating various crafts and outlining fundraising efforts during the celebration, which runs from 10am to 3pm.
Parking and refreshments are available and entry is free. For details call on (0191) 383 1944
