YOUNGSTERS at a Darlington primary school are eagerly awaiting their new classroom.
Work started on the classroom at Gurney Pease Primary School, in Dodsworth Street, in September, with Dorman Long Construction using a lightweight £15,000 steel framework.
Since then the pupils have seen the framework grow into a classroom, which could be ready in time for Christmas.
Darlington Borough Council has funded the classroom for reception teacher Carol Hollis and her class of young pupils.
She said: "It's our Christmas present. As an old school, Gurney Pease has a lot of old high windows, but this classroom will be nice and light and the young children can see out of them."
