WALKERS on a popular route will soon be able to enjoy their haunt fully after a major repair operation after last year's floods.
The Hazelgrove Woods, in Saltburn, were hit four times by floods in July and November and the damage included three landslips.
Work was due to be carried out earlier this year but had to be put on hold because of the foot-and-mouth outbreak which restricted access to paths.
Now, a workforce of 20 has spent the past four weeks using timber from five trees to shore up points along the main footpath as well as strengthening the beckside and rebuilding the path.
The work is part of a series of repair jobs being carried out at Lingdale, Skinningrove and Saltburn Gill as well as Saltburn.
The Hazelgrove Woods project has cost beween £4,000 and £5,000 but Emma Daniel, footpath officer for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, believes it is a good investment because of the woods' popularity.
"It is a really popular walk, especially for people with dogs because it leads right out to the seafront and it is a good wide path," she said.
