A NEWLY-appointed professor will provoke ideas on the future of television in a free public lecture.
Film and programme maker Richard Else, who has just been appointed professor of media production at the University of Teesside, will speak on the subject of Television: a medium still in search of a message, on next Wednesday, at 6.30pm.
The talk will offer thought-provoking insights into television, covering a broad range of areas.
Professor Else said: "Everyone will surely remember how they first saw the horrific images of September 11. While these images usually represent defining moments for us, they are only a part of the totality of television."
Among the award-winning programmes he has produced is the BBC's Wild Climbs.
Prof Else was attracted to Teesside because of the university's facilities for computer animation, visualisation, design and virtual reality.
The lecture takes place in the Europa Building/University Cinema, Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough.
