CHILDREN from one of Darlington's primary schools have a special reason to surf the net this Christmas.
Year six pupils at Reid Street primary school entered a competition in November to write an international Christmas story.
They were selected to write the first chapter of the book and then sent their introduction, via e-mail, to a school in New York, which will continue the story. Two schools in Canada and one in Malaysia have since added to the tale.
Each chapter of the story is designed to reflect the culture and traditions of the country in which it is written.
By completion, the story the pupils began will have involved nine schools around the world.
There are now four online books written in the same way, and when they are completed they will be printed for all the children to read.
It can be viewed on the school website at : http://www.reidstreet.darlington.sch.uk and following the link to "Our Christmas story".
