A MAJOR operation to push home the message that speeding doesn't pay is being launched by emergency services in North Yorkshire.
Operation Siren is a joint exercise between the police, the fire and rescue service and paramedics from the ambulance trust.
The idea is to demonstrate to drivers what can happen if they travel too fast.
Anyone stopped will be given the chance to learn more about the potential consequences of breaking the speed limit rather that getting a fixed penalty ticket.
Operation Siren will be launched in Bedale on Monday when representatives of all three emergency services will be present.
From 9am to 3pm police will be monitoring vehicles with speed guns.
