CHRISTMAS may not be here yet but thoughts are already turning to what to do with the tree once the festivities have finished.
Residents across the borough of Stockton are being urged to go green and recycle.
Stockton Borough Council, in partnership with Peter Barratts garden centre and County Composting, are making it easier this year for people to dispose of their tree.
There will be a collection point at the Stockton garden centre, from January 2 to 13, between 9am and 4pm.
Anyone heading along to recycle their tree will be given a voucher for a cup of coffee and a scone in Peter Barratts, any time between 9am to 11am and 2.30pm to 5pm.
They will also receive a voucher entitling them to a discount off County Composting compost
They will also have the opportunity to take away their very own Christmas tree chippings as the trees will be chipped on site by County Composting.
A skip will also be available for Christmas trees at the new Household Waste reception site on Haverton Hill Road, Haverton Hill, from January 2 to 13. These are the only facilities available for the collection of trees.
Anyone found dumping Christmas trees on public land could be prosecuted and fined £25.
