TOP British band Pulp are to give an open-air concert in the region next June, it was announced yesterday.
The event, in Dalby Forest, near Pickering, North Yorkshire, is part of the band's five-date tour of beauty spots across the country.
The Forestry Commission is also hoping Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Band will return to the North York Moors to perform at the same gig, on June 22.
Concerts were staged in the forest for the first time last summer, when performances from Holland and The Levellers attracted more than 5,500 people.
Peter Green, North York Moors district forester, said: "The venue proved its worth last year, providing a magnificent backdrop to two nights of rollicking music."
The forest venue was felt to be perfect for the band, whose latest single, Trees, was taken from the We Love Life album, which also extols the virtues of birds, rivers and plants.
Tickets, costing from £21, can be booked through the Forestry Commission information hotline, on (01842) 814612. For further information, contact Peter Green on (01751) 472771.
