A YEAR-LONG project to provide Yorkshire's first youth street and breakdance championships reaches its climax this weekend - thanks to a £30,000 National Lottery windfall.
Bridlington's Spa will host the finals of Millennium Moves.
The project has been led by Leeds dance company DPA and, at the final on Sunday, Xperimental from Harrogate will take on Shaolin Shadows from Leeds.
The event, which has attracted dancers from all over Yorkshire, will also provide workshops in graffiti art, rap and music making.
Director and co-founder Roy Stockburn, of Knaresborough, is expecting a big crowd.
He said: "It will be the biggest event of its kind so far.
"We have had youngsters from eight to 18 involved and have been getting calls from youth clubs to visit them and teach members how to do this sort of dancing properly."
The final will run from 6.30pm to 9pm and will also feature a performance by one of the country's top crews, Under Attack.
Tickets for the final are available from Yorkshire Dance, St Peter's Square, Leeds, The Spa, Bridlington or the ticket information hotline on 0777 1916608. They cost £3 (£2 concessions).
