PUPILS at two village schools will move into new buildings next summer.
Sunderland City Council plans to start work soon on Dubmire Primary School, in Fencehouses. The £3m project will replace the ageing buildings of Dubmire Infants and Primary schools.
The council's education department won New Deal for Schools funding for the scheme, which will lead to the two schools and a nursery unit amalgamating under one roof.
The council also succeeded in its bid for Space for Sports money, which will be used to improve facilities at the school for public use.
The school will have 14 classrooms, a library, computer suite, main hall, administration block, kitchen, toilets, sports hall, changing room, showers and an arts studio.
Sports fields are to be upgraded and there will also be a new playground and games area
