STUDENTS received sobering advice at an alcohol-free Christmas party yesterday.

The event, based on the theme Do the Drink, Not the Drunk, was hosted by Teesside University's student services department.

Staff and students were invited to sample drinks from a free non-alcoholic bar, listen to music and receive recipes for exotic cocktails.

There were also information displays and bar staff donned fancy dress for the occasion.

Fiona Hyslop, mental health co-ordinator with student services, said: "The festive season is something that most of us look forward to.

"For students, it's a period when they can spend time with their friends and families.

"This party will hopefully help to promote the physical and mental well-being of staff and students over the festive season.
