A CAMPAIGN to assist the barn owl population has been given a boost by a Teesdale company.
As well as being a builders' merchant, S&A of Barnard Castle specialises in agricultural outbuildings.
The company has offered to build and install 20 new barn owl boxes in buildings commissioned by clients, which fall within the Durham biodiversity partnership area. The boxes will be free to clients, who will also receive an information pack.
S&A managing director, Mr Geoff Simpson, who will promote the boxes when sending out quotations to clients, said: "I'm a farmer's son and the countryside, its wildlife and agricultural landscape are dear to me and the company. We are delighted to offer hope for local barn owls."
