INDEPENDENT retailer Marjorie Brough, is celebrating putting roots down for her business after years as a mobile clothing retailer.
The owner of Classic Clothes has doubled her turnover in the past two years since she set up shop in Darlington's Imperial Quarter, around Grange Road.
Classic Clothes began as a mobile business displaying collections in fashion shows around the area.
It specialises in shoes and accessories from all over Europe, including well-known brands like Gardeur, Hucke, and Belino.
Marjorie chooses the collections on trips to London, and has recently expanded her range to include coats, nightwear and toiletries.
She said: "I am amazed by the incredible success of Classic Clothes especially as this business started as just a hobby.
"The decision to establish the shop in the heart of Darlington's growing quality retail area has proved incredibly successful and the Imperial Quarter is clearly going to make an impact on this year's Christmas market."
She said: "We already have a loyal customer base who want clothes that will make them feel and look good without carrying a designer price tag.
"Classic Clothes has expanded its range and ventured into other areas of fashion in the last two years, and this is a trend which I certainly intend to continue."
