A SUPERMARKET will provide the venue for Darlington MP Alan Milburn and a group of local councillors for their surgeries today.
The councillors from Haughton East and Haughton West will be meeting their constituents alongside Mr Milburn, at Asda, from 4pm.
Councillors from the area have been holding surgeries in Asda for more than a year, but it is the first time Mr Milburn has joined them.
He said: "I hold surgeries every Friday at my town centre office but that is not always convenient for constituents. Taking surgeries into places where people go as part of everyday life makes it easier for residents to get to see their local representatives. That has to be a good thing."
Haughton East councillor Chris McEwan, one of five councillors who regularly use Asda for their surgeries, said: "All five of us agreed that, for our wards, Asda would be a good central location to hold surgeries."
