SEVEN youngsters have been rewarded for their efforts in running a milk monitor scheme at school.
The pupils, from Ingleton Church of England school, in Teesdale, and Vane Road Primary, in Darlington, have been awarded certificates and badges for their efforts in the Cool Milk at School scheme.
The scheme offers milk to all primary school children in the UK. It costs 14p a carton for over fives and is free for younger children.
Sarah Green, Sarah Parker and Victoria Taylor, all ten, Charlotte Dodd, nine, and Hilly Redgrave, eight, are all milk monitors at Ingleton school. They have been presented with the awards for helping other pupils in the school during milk time as well as organising the distribution of milk throughout the school.
At Vane Road Primary, Sara Firth and Lucy Pollock, both 11, help with milk time every morning and have been nominated for the award by their school.
Cool Milk at School managing director Jon Thornes said: "Being a milk monitor not only gives the child a sense of responsibility but also helps with their numerical and social skills."
