SUNDAY'S FA Cup draw proved to be a potential banana skin for the regions sides with Middlesbrough facing a tough trip to First Division Wimbledon.
The Teessiders were knocked out by the Dons in both the FA and league cup last season and Steve McClaren's side will be hoping to avoid another upset against the 1988 FA Cup winners.
Darlington's reward for Saturday's win at Altrincham is a home tie with old foes Peterborough United, who defeated the Quakers at Wembley in the play-off final last year.
Newcastle meanwhile face First Division pacesetters Crystal Palace, who will no doubt fancy their chances - especially if they manage to take the Magpies to a replay!
Sunderland will have to overcome West Brom at the Stadium of Light if they are to progress into the fourth round.
All ties will be played on the weekend of 5 January.
