A PUB landlord is looking for local traditions to make Christmas extra special this year.
Sam Kidd, of the Old Farmhouse between Darlington and Middleton St George, is asking customers to share their family recipes, decorations and superstitions. The person who comes up with the best suggestion will win a Christmas meal for two.
Mr Kidd said: "The Victorians were responsible for shaping the modern Christmas festival, but I think they would be horrified with the ghastly things we see today such as singing Santas and garish plastic decorations."
Anyone with a tradition to share is asked to pop into the pub on Yarm Road and speak to Mr Kidd.
