THERE will be a Wensleydale Show in 2002 whatever happens regarding foot-and-mouth restrictions, it was agreed at the annual meeting of the agricultural society.
The society is to meet on January 17 to select judges and prepare a schedule for the August show.
The committee, which was re-elected, has invited anyone interested in helping to attend that meeting. The show covers a wide range of interests including art, cookery and handicrafts so there is plenty of scope.
The committee recently held a very successful dinner with entertainment by Percy Harker, Karen Chapman and Elaine Dobbin. The Nellie Mason memorial salver for the hardest working committee member was presented to Mr Bill Croft.
A new trophy was given for the cattle section. The Frank Metcalfe trophy, given by Mr John Metcalfe of Washfold Farm, Leyburn, is in memory of his father.
