VICTIMS of disgraced surgeon Richard Neale face an important day in the High Court in London today.
Leaders of the victims of the gynaecologist, formerly at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, are campaigning for a public inquiry after rejecting Department of Health offers of an internal investigation.
The group, which represents more than 200 women, mostly from North Yorkshire and Cleveland, has been given leave to apply for a judicial review to replace the internal inquiry with a public inquiry.
But they are concerned that plans to deal with them alongside a separate campaign group could hamper their cause when it comes to court.
Richard Lissack QC, who has agreed to represent the Neale group, will argue that, because of the issues, they deserve a separate hearing.
