Jamie Burt, whose goals helped to fire Whitby into the first round of the FA Cup, has joined Second Division Chesterfield.
Burt, who was signed by Whitby from neighbours Scarborough, has signed an 18 month contract with Chesterfield, who haven't paid a fee for his services because he wasn't on contract at the Turnbull Ground.
He rejected a trial with Hartlepool United after scoring Whitby's goal in their 1-1 draw with Plymouth at the Turnbull Ground and another in the 3-2 defeat at Home Park.
Whitby have been given £250 by league sponsors Henkel in acknowledgement of the work put in to generate extra publicity in their FA Cup runs. They figured prominently on Match of the Day in their game against Plymouth, while Altrincham have also been awarded a similar amount after facing Darlington.
Whitby midfielder Alan Anderson has had to retire - not through injury or illness, but because of work commitments.
Manager Harry Dunn said: "It as becoming very difficult for him to get to matches because of his work, so we agreed that it would be best of he retired in his own interests."
Meanwhile, Gateshead have denied that they have transfer-listed central defender Rob Jones.
"Nothing can be further from the truth," said assistant manager Gary Gill. "He definitely isn't on the transfer list."
The much maligned UniBond League Cup group stage is going to drag into the New Year for North-East teams.
Because of Gateshead's losing involvement in the FA Trophy on Monday, the league arranged for Bishop Auckland to play Spennymoor on Wednesday night, but that game was postponed because part of the pitch was dangerous.
Moors have already pencilled in Gretna's visit for January 2, so it looks as if the earliest the game will go ahead is January 9.
Accrington Stanley have revealed that they decided to accept a reduced amount of their sell-on entitlement when former player Brett Ormerod, moved from Blackpool to Southampton.
Accrington were due £350,000 for the player, but they took £200,000 instead in order to help the deal go through after Southampton refused to increase their offer.
