A Darlington man has raced his way to success in the Porsche 924 Championship, writes ALISON LEWIS.

Keith Penman, 35, has competed in the championship for the last four seasons, but bad luck meant the title remained out of his grasp until this year.

Driving a Porsche 924 for Team Lodge Sports, sponsored by Graham Coffey and Co Associates solicitors based in Manchester, Keith triumphed in ten races out of 13 around the country, winning him the championship.

Using just one set of re-moulded Colway Tyres for the entire season, including testing, qualifying and competition, he covered a total of 1,200 miles.

Keith, who is general manager at David Penman Cars in Darlington, said: "Finally this year it all seemed to come together. It was a long time coming, I had proved myself to be one of the fastest drivers, but a variety of problems and bad luck meant I didn't win in the first three seasons.

"But this year everything went absolutely fantastically and I'm looking forward to next season.
