A STUNNING light display featuring festive music and images will bring a market town alive on Saturday evening.
The show will be the highlight of Barnard Castle's Christmas Festival and will be the first event of its kind to be held in the County Durham town.
The town council and Teesdale Marketing, which organised the event, have raised more than £40,000 to put on the festival, which will also feature a farmers' market and lantern parade through the town today. The light display will see lasers flashed across the walls of the town's castle, from both Scar Top and near to the County Bridge, on the edge of the River Tees.
Organisers are hoping thousands of people from across the region will visit the town to see the spectacle.
The laser show will take place between 4pm and 8pm, with performances every 30 minutes.
