TRAVEL shop customers have shown festive spirit by donating gifts for underprivileged children.
Residents and businesses in Chester-le-Street have given generously to the Santa's Suitcase appeal, run by the town's branch of Travel Care on behalf of Children North-East.
The donated gifts will be distributed to children linked to special projects in the area. Karen Smith, public relations officer for Children North-East, said pressure to spend more at Christmas makes it a stressful time for many, but for some the additional pressure can prove unbearable.
