MORE than 150 food parcels will be delivered to elderly people in Darlington by the Lions Club this Christmas.
The club members collect money and food at supermarkets each year to make up the parcels.
This year they have collected £1,600 at Morrisons and Safeway stores.
Bob Martin, chairman of the club's welfare committee, said: "A lot of elderly people are on their own at Christmas and when we take them one of these parcels some are in tears they're so grateful someone has thought of them."
