A WEBSITE promoting North Yorkshire as the idyllic place to get married has created a lot of interest.
Internet surfers from across the world have been logging on to the county council site, which gives details of more than 80 civil wedding venues.
In the past year, the site, www.northyorks.gov.uk/weddings, has recorded a 74 per cent increase in the number of visits.
Since the beginning of the year, the site has had visitors from throughout the world, including the US, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Robin Mair, head of registration services for the council, said yesterday: "We are pleased that the site has proved so popular and will continue developing it next year to make it the best site of its type in the country.
