TWO teenagers have admitted an attack which left a 14-year-old boy with severe head injuries.
Daniel Robinson and Steven Webster, both 18, admitted attacking the youngster as he walked in Cranberry Road, Hylton Castle, Sunderland.
The boy underwent emergency surgery to have part of his ear stitched back on.
Robinson, of Park Street South, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and also assaulting a teenager passer-by who stepped in to try to help the boy.
Julian Smith, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: "Robinson accepts punching and accepts the injured party was kicked and knocked to the ground.
"Robinson kicked him to the face while he was lying motionless and defenceless on the floor. Both were kicking him, putting the boot in. He was kicked on three or four occasions to the head."
Webster, of Cramlington Road, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Mr Smith said: "He accepted he became involved in the kicking when he (the boy) fell to the ground. He was kicking him in the stomach area."
The pair were remanded in custody and will be sentenced on February 1.
