Support Needed: Councillor Wilf Dobinson, chairman of Wear Valley District Council, is hoping that the people of Wear Valley will support his charity fundraising event on New Year's Eve. Soccer SHOW: Crook Town AFC are holding a Christmas show featuring rock band Frayed Ends and hypnotist Kevin Star on Saturday, at 8.15pm, in the social club. Tickets costing £3 are available from the social club, committee members or pay at the door.

Family DiscoS: Crook Cricket Club is holding a family disco, with a visit from Santa on Saturday, from 7pm to 10.30pm. On Christmas Eve a family disco will take place from 7pm to 10pm.
Carol Service: People are invited to sing along to the Wurlitzer organ at a carol service arranged by local churches, courtesy of the North-East Theatre Organ Association, at the new Victoria Centre, Howden-le-Wear, on Saturday, at 6.30pm. Introduction music on the Wurlitzer will be played from 6pm.
