AN injection of more than £30m to improve school buildings throughout the region was announced yesterday.
State schools in the North-East and North Yorkshire will benefit from the cash, which will go towards ensuring that classrooms are properly maintained and well equipped.
Schools Minister Catherine Ashton announced a £24m capital investment in the North-East and just over £9.3m for North Yorkshire.
Among the schools to benefit will be Carmel Technology College, in Darlington, County Durham, where a project to create a new assembly hall, as well as drama and technology blocks, is under way.
An art room at St David's RC School, Middlesbrough, is also in line for improvements.
