Thieves snatch leather suite
PEOPLE walking near a furniture store in Bishop Auckland could help police trap raiders who stole a leather suite.
Detectives have appealed for information after a burglary at the Woodbridge store, in Tindale Crescent, at 7pm on Monday, in which a cream leather three-seat settee and two-seat settee and matching chair were taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Justin Thornberry or PC Richard Klein on (01388) 603566.
INQUEST ADJOURNED: An inquest was opened into the death of Kevin Archer, 25, from Matfen Court, Sedgefield, at Bishop Auckland Magistrates' Court yesterday. Mr Archer, a car salesman, died on Saturday. The inquest was adjourned for toxicology tests to be carried out.
DRUM SUM: Teesdale Pipes and Drums raised £521.33 from a street collection in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland.

William Shaw, of Rookhope Primary School, Weardale, Stephen Lawton, from Bowes Hutchinson CE Primary School, Barnard Castle, and Richard Rutter, from Startforth CE Primary School, have been rewarded under the Cool Milk at School scheme
